I Love You to Death

Don’t be fooled by the pastels and cuddly teddy bears in the paintings.
Texas native artist Loretta Gonzalez pays tribute to the murders of children by their mothers in her I Love You to Death series. As you look closer, you will see that the teddy bears are actually in tears or splattered with blood while an emotionless female is committing the act. Psychologically and aesthetically intriguing, the series compels you to explore the vulnerability and disturbance that linger in such situations.

Artist of The Week: Cain Caser

Cain Caser describes his work as “hypnagogic portraits,” in which he abuses his process until one of these appears. He cuts, pastes, paints, photocopies, collages, and even ruins his art until his colorful creation is finished at last. Feast your eyes on his vibrant, semi Basquiat-esque works of art.
