Julie Pike is a Norwegian fashion photographer under the agency Peppercookies, who has signed a lot of other great artists. Pike has worked with H & M and Oyster Magazine, among others.
Scott Weaver & The Factory

I’m sure most of you know about or have seen the Warhol Exhibit at the Mint Museum but this event will be unlike anything there. Scott Weaver is recreating The Factory with live models, video, and slide projections as well as art exhibitions. DJ Andy Kastanas will be performing and a portion of proceeds will go to the Mint Museum.

I know it’s hard to think about swimsuits right now, but our favorite designers have already created Spring and Summer collections. I adore this one by Camilla & Marc. Their new website will be available soon where you can view the newest designs. I hope we see more of this style in the warmer days.
Obedient Sons and Daughters Closes

I was sad to learn that one of my favorite lines were closing its doors due to insufficient funds. Surprisingly the company’s demise was not connected to the recession but to the company’s investor, which failed to provide enough capital to promote the company’s growth. Swaim and Christina Hutson launched their line over 2 years ago and have had nothing but continual success with the duo even being CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists in 2008. There is good news in that the designers plan to release a new line February 14 under a name that has yet to be released. Hopefully the new line will retain the same quirky and charming tailoring that made Daughters so intriguing.

Free music, free food, cheap art

This event is sponsored by the organization 318, which is based out of UNCC. The college pays local musicians and artists to be a part of the functions while the students organize and gather fresh entertainment. Anyone can attend these parties for free. This year will mark the fourth for 318, who sponsors 6 events per year. Feel free to contact this organization with any questions or ideas.
